'330 Day 2026’ – 330  Sense.To Live

‘Five-Senses Carnival’ Successfully Held

To mark the Association’s 60th anniversary, New Life joined hands with MTR Corporation, Tam Jai International’s brands TamJai Yunnan Mixian and TamJai SamGor Mixian, Eslite Bookstore, The Alchemist Cafe Bistro, and its own New Life Farm and social enterprises cafe330 and so330 to launch the "330 Day 2026” – 330 Sense. To Live, a citywide five‑senses journey, starting from March. The grand finale – the "330 Sense. To Live – Five Senses Carnival” – was successfully held on 28 and 29 March at The Wai, Tai Wai.

The ceremony was officiated by (in the above photo) Dr. Cecilia FAN, JP (sixth from right), Under Secretary for Health; Mr. HO Kai‑ming, JP (fifth from left), Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare; Dr. ZHOU He (fifth from right), Deputy Director-General of the Department of Social Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Dr. KO Wing‑man, GBS, JP (fourth from left), Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Member of the Executive Council, and Chairman of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee; Dr. David LAM (third from left), Legislative Council Member for the Medical and Health Services functional constituency; Mr. Edward TO, JP (fourth from right), Director of Social Welfare, along with other guests. They were joined by Professor Annie TAM Kam-lan, GBS, JP (sixth from left), Chairperson of the Executive Committee of New Life. The event venue was fully seated with around 100 guests, including partners, government officials, representatives from non‑profit organisations and tertiary institutions, businesses and service users.

Professor Annie TAM Kam-lan, GBS, JP, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of New Life, said in her welcome speech: "This year, we are honoured and grateful to our many ‘Partners in Journey’ for their staunch support in promoting the citywide Sense. To Live five-senses journey. To date, over 10,000 members of the public have taken part in it. Due to the overwhelming response, we will extend the five‑senses missions to 10 April. We look forward to your support.”

Dr. Cecilia FAN, JP, Under Secretary for Health, acknowledged New Life’s years of effort in promoting mental health. She noted that taking just a few minutes to "pause” and do something one enjoys – such as savouring a drink – can effectively relieve stress and regulate emotions.

Mr. HO Kai‑ming, JP, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, remarked that people in Hong Kong live at a frantic pace and often feel immense pressure as they strive to achieve goals quickly. He encouraged the public to "open their five senses” and adopt a slower pace in daily life – for example, feeling the texture of food while eating, or slowly savouring the scent of a book while reading.

‘Five Senses Carnival’ – Multi‑sensory Booths Contribute to Holistic 330 Well-being

Themed "Micro-break, sense, connect”, the 330 Sense. To Live – Five Senses Carnival transformed The Wai in Tai Wai into a sensory exploration space. Through different sense-oriented missions, the public could experience the importance of noticing their own state and emotional changes. The event featured many interactive booths and workshops, including a touch exploration station, a sound connection station, an urban scent station, a five‑flavour exploration station, an AI visual transformation booth and a drawing workshop. Visitors engaged enthusiastically in the five‑senses experiences.

330 Sense. To Live Citywide Five‑Senses Journey Extends to 10 April to Meet Popular Demand

Co‑organised by New Life and its partners: MTR Corporation, Tam Jai International’s brands TamJai Yunnan Rice Noodles and TamJai SamGor Rice Noodles, Eslite Bookstore, The Alchemist Cafe Bistro, as well as New Life Farm and social enterprises cafe330 and so330, the 330 Sense. To Live five‑senses journey covered over 300 locations across Hong Kong. Through the "330 Day” mobile page, participants can start a series of sense-oriented missions lasting around a minute, practising awareness of their own body and environmental cues in everyday settings. To date, the event has recorded more than 10,000 participants. Due to the enthusiastic response, New Life has extended the five‑senses mission from the original end of March to 10 April, covering the entire Easter holiday.

Besides visiting locations across the city, several in‑depth experiential activities have also been successfully held, allowing the public to practise holistic wellness in different settings. In collaboration with Eslite Bookstore, New Life organised a "Return to the present with five senses” talk and a "Mindful breathing experience” workshop on 8 March at Eslite’s Causeway Bay store. Led by New Life’s clinical psychologist and an artist, participants used breathing and sound exercises to reset their state amid a busy pace and explored how to be aware of and enjoy the present.

On 15 March, New Life teamed up with The Alchemist Cafe Bistro to run two "Slow eating with five senses” workshops (left photo above), guiding participants to start with a cup of coffee and practise slowing down their eating rhythm, turning a daily meal into a "330 micro break” of self‑dialogue. During the event, an eco‑experience was also held at New Life Farm (right photo above), where participants stepped into real farmland, observed plant forms and seasonal scents, and experienced a rhythm and air distinctly different from those of the city.

Making Desserts to Foster Community Connection and Promote Relaxation

Kwai Shing Workshop, together with the Hong Kong Housing Authority and the Department of Health’s "I'm So Smart" Community Health Promotion Programme, organised a "Tofu pudding dessert making” workshop for residents of Kwai Tsui Estate.
