New Life E-Newsletter May 2024

Social Work Run 2024

New Life took part in the Social Work Run 2024, after a 4-year hiatus. Organised by the Hong Kong Social Workers Association, the event was held on 1 May and attracted nearly 2000 industry practitioners, friends, and service users.

Representatives from New Life participated in the 3km and 10km individual races, as well as the four-person team relay race.

 


Labour Day Reception


On 26 April, the Labour Day Reception was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. John LEE, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, Chief Executive of HKSAR, Mr. Chris SUN, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, (centre), along with government officials, and representatives from the labour and business sectors. Miss Annie TAM Kam-lan, GBS, JP. Chairperson of New Life (third from left), and Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, CEO of New Life (First from right) engaged in discussions with attendees from various sectors at the Reception.

 


Beyond The Rainbow Fundraiser


On 27 April, Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, CEO of New Life and Ms. Chris WONG Kar-hing, Head of Professional Services, (Vocational Rehabilitation, Employment Services and Autism Spectrum Disorder Services) of New Life, joined the Beyond The Rainbow Fundraiser organised by the Koo Foundation. New Life showcased its vocational rehabilitation services, products from its social enterprises, and the innovative VReach virtual reality employment support service tailored for young individuals with autism at the exhibition booth during the event.

 


Facilitating Collaboration At S+ Summit cum Expo 2024


New Life showcased its services at the S+ Summit cum Expo 2024" organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. The services introduced included VReach virtual reality employment support service for Autistic patients, 330 well-being index, and other services provided by New Life. Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, the CEO of the association, attended the event to engage with various stakeholders.

Ms. CHAN Chi Man, Social Welfare Officer of New Life, introduced the dayday330 initiative and the 330 well-being index to participants at the expo.

 


Hyatt Hotel Group Charity Sale

In April, the Hyatt Hotel Group invited New Life to participate in its charity sale events at four hotels under the Group. New Life's own brand of organic and healthy food, handicrafts, household cleaning products were available for sale to support its vocational rehabilitation services.



 


iSPA Interviewed by NowTV


New Life's iSPA was featured in NowTV's news programme "Now Report", with the theme of "sensory hardship". Ms. KU Hei-tung, therapist at the iSPA, along with service users from the centre shared causes of Sensory Integration Disorders and challenges it poses for patients with Autism. Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop: ECF Food Sharing Project

Hyatt Hotel Group

A team of 30 volunteers from the Hyatt Hotel Group team visited the Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop to join New Life's service users in the packaging of New Life's "Goodle" products and meal boxes. The products were then donated to members of the Food Sharing Project.



 


Reitar Logtech Group

New Life's food collection box has been set up at the Hong Kong headquarters of Reitar Logtech Group since April this year. The company's staff can donate food to members of the Food Sharing Project, helping them reduce expenses on food.
