Low-intensity Psychotherapy Seminar Successfully Held Experts From Local And Abroad Shared Experiences In Psychotherapy

On 27 Nov, the professional seminar on "Low-intensity Psychotherapy: Experiences and prospects from local and abroad” organised by New Life’s Jockey Club eGPS Psychological Support Project successfully drew to a close.

Industry experts shared the latest developments in promoting low-intensity psychotherapy services in various formats at the seminar, sparking further discussions on enhancing the sustainability of public mental health services.

New Life’s clinical psychologist, Ms Gladys Yeung, psychological well-being officer, Ms Ng Ka Yan, and social worker for Integrated Mental Health Programme, Ms Ho Hoi Yi were among the speakers at this seminar. They shared their experiences in low-intensity psychology and cognitive-behavioral therapy.


Siu Lam Integrated Rehabilitation Services Complex Media Day

The Siu Lam Integrated Rehabilitation Services Complex built at the site of ex-Siu Lam Hospital in Tuen Mun, is nearing completion. New Life is one of the operating organisations at the Complex, responsible for operating a long stay care home, which will offer about 400 vacancies with high-quality accommodation and community-based rehabilitation training for those in need.


On 14 Dec, the Social Welfare Department arranged the first-ever media day with guided tours to the operating organisations’ services and facilities at the Complex. Representatives from New Life introduced to the media the training programmes and art activities to be provided, aiming to enhance service users’ self-care ability and holistic well-being.


 


New Life Participates in the Gerontechnology Expo and Summit GIES 2023

New Life participated again in the 2023 Gerontechnology Expo and Summit, co-organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service from 23-26 Nov. A record-high 800 gerontechnology-related products and solutions were showcased at this year’s expo.


New Life’s booth featured three unique tech-enabled experiences that foster holistic well-being: the OmiiVista Mobii, the dayday330 well-being index, and the audio-guided mindful practice. The showcases were well-received by industry peers and members of the public interested in learning more about mental health services.


 


Thai Mental Health Group Exchange Tour

New Life has been committed to promoting mental health through collaborations with various organisations and groups. The Somdet Chaopraya Institute of Psychiatry from Thailand has been one of our close partners since 2012. The organisation arranges for its students to visit New Life every year to exchange ideas with our members and staff.


This year, we were pleased to again receive visitors from the Institute from 4 to 8 Dec, marking the first face-to-face meeting since the epidemic. The guests visited various service units at New Life, including Green in Kwai Tsing, iSPA, so330, Delight Kitchen, Chuk Yuen Integrated Work Centre, Kwai Chung Hospital, New Life Building Sheltered Workshop and Long Stay Care Home.



New Life’s Staff Recognised At "Hong Kong Social Enterprises Employee Recognition Scheme 2023”

A total of eight staff members from New Life received recognition at this year’s "Hong Kong Social Enterprises Employee Recognition Scheme 2023”, organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Social Enterprises, SVHK Foundation Ltd. and Social Enterprise Summit. Seven of them received Employee Recognition, while another staff member was awarded the Best Team Spirit Award. The recognitions highlighted their exceptional performance and contribution to the development of social enterprises. Staff representatives attended the ceremony on 7 Dec.

New Life appreciates the recognition of our services and we thank our staff for their hard work and contribution.


gift330 Takes Home Design Award

gift330 garnered the Merit Award in the Product and Industrial Design category at the DFA Design for Asia Awards. Mr. Thomas Chu Sai-ming, Chief Executive Officer of New Life, and Ms Sarah Mui, Founder and Design Director of One Bite Design Studio Limited, the product design company, received the award together on 28 Nov.

Buddhist Sin Tak College Students

Visit drinks330

To gain a deeper understanding of New Life’s social enterprise services, a group of F.3 students from Buddhist Sin Tak College visited drinks330 on 7 Nov to learn about the organic bean product production and New Life’s services for People in Recovery. The students also visited Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop to meet with a group of elderly people and participated in ECF Food Sharing Project’s activities, where they deepened their understanding of New Life’s service users.



Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop: ECF Food Sharing Project

The ECF Food Sharing Project at Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop promotes its service concept to different sectors through proactive engagement activities. In November, the Workshop received four enterprises with guided tours for corporate volunteer teams and participation in the food distribution activities, allowing them to better understand the service concept and operation of the Sheltered Workshop as well as the project.
