Quality Assurance Seminar & Continuous Quality Improvement Sharing Session: Sharing Experiences In Responding To The Pandemic

New Life has been dedicated to pursuing excellence in various service areas and providing high-quality services to its users. To improve the level of professional service and expand its development areas, the organisation held the "Quality Assurance Seminar & Continuous Quality Improvement Sharing Session'' on 17 Jun, which offered a platform to New Life’s service units to share the results of their two-year continuous quality improvement plan from 2021 to 2023. New Life was also honoured to have our long-term partners, including HACTL and Hong Kong Disneyland Management Limited, share their business operation experiences and latest innovative initiatives. Their thoughts and insights inspired our staff and allowed us to enhance our services.

dayday330 Promoting Body, Mind And Spirit Well-being On Dragon Boat Festival

A reunion with our family could help enhance our body, mind and spirit well-being. dayday330 has launched the "dayday330 - Dragon Boat Festival Edition" WhatsApp dynamic stickers to encourage everyone to stay in touch with family and friends, share life stories, and take care of each other. We can also foster our body, mind and spirit well-being together by expanding our social circles and establishing positive social relationships too.

In addition, dayday330 has released a video titled "A Time of Festivity: Enjoying Tuen Ng Dumplings Together!" - while making or tasting dumplings, we can focus on our sensory experiences, the positive vibes and the joyful moments. Dragon Boat Festival Celebration With New Life’s Residents

On June 12, MINDSET, a registered charity founded by the Jardine Matheson Group focusing on making a tangible and sustainable difference towards the underserved mental health community, visited MINDEST place, a building operated and managed by New Life to provide People In Recovery with a comfortable home. Visitors, including MINDSET’s Board and Executive Committee, comprising leaders from across the Jardines Group, shared festive dumplings and food with the residents and interacted with them during a tour of the dormitory, and had a pleasant afternoon.

Meanwhile, our staff from the Day training & vocational counselling team at Halfway Houses prepared a DIY dumpling hanging ornament workshop for the residents. The finished products were used for decorating the dormitory and given to friends and family as gifts. On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, all our residential units prepared fresh and delicious festive rice dumplings for the residents to enjoy and celebrate the day together.

Job Fair for Residential Care Home Service Industry

On June 8-9, New Life participated in the "Job Fair for Residential Care Home Service Industry" organised by the Labour Department to recruit frontline, professional, and support staff for our long stay care homes, hostels for moderately mentally handicapped, halfway houses,and self financed subvented supported hostels. At the job fair, many participants inquired about the details of the residential services currently provided by New Life and the requirements of related job vacancies, including offers at the latest long stay care home in Tuen Mun Siu Lam, which is set to begin operation at the end of this year.

New Life Support Enterprises Limited Named Consumer Caring Company

New Life Association Enterprise Limited, a subsidiary of New Life, has been named Consumer Caring Company by GS1 Hong Kong for the fourth consecutive year. This award recognises New Life Association Enterprise Limited’s outstanding performance in four major assessment categories: (1) consumer centric, (2) conforming to commitment, (3) strive for quality, and (4) caring for staff. This scheme is now in its 12th edition, and this year's award ceremony took place on May 30.

Voluntary Activity: United Parcel Service & Hyatt Hotels Hong Kong

On May 6 and 17, volunteers from United Parcel Service (UPS) and Hyatt Hotels Hong Kong visited New Life Farm to assist with various agricultural tasks, including clearing fields of tomato plants in the hot weather and packaging harvested organic vegetables for transportation and sales.

Volunteers also visited the farm's composting area, as well as the processing and sales of the farm’s agricultural products, understanding the entire production process and material cycle. The visit enabled volunteers to personally experience the difficulty of agricultural work, learn to cherish food and reduce food waste, and better understand New Life's vocational rehabilitation services and training.

Community Inclusion Activity At Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop

On May 8, Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop held a community inclusion activity for students from Lung Kong World Federation School Limited Lau Wong Fat Secondary School. The students visited the Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop, as well as the food factories Delight Kitchen and drinks330, to learn about the operation of the workshop and the concept of New Life’s vocational rehabilitation services.

Students also had the opportunity to visit service users of the work extension programme and participate in volunteer activities under the ECF Food Sharing Project, distributing food to project members. This event provided students with an opportunity to interact and communicate with people with mental illness and disabilities of different abilities, understand their needs, and therefore promote greater social inclusion.

Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop: ECF Food Sharing Project

Sharing Of Festive Dumplings
Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop’s ECF Food Sharing Project received a generous donation of 1,900 dumplings from Kee Wah Bakery. The dumplings were then shared with the project’s beneficiaries on Jun 20 as well as members of Food Sharing Hong Kong, sending them festive joy and love.

Co-organising Environmental Protection School Seminar With GREEN@KWAI TSING
The project was invited by E.L.C.H.K. Kwai Shing Lutheran Primary School to hold an environmental protection seminar together with GREEN@KWAI TSING on May 15 and 17. The seminar aimed to provide the students with environmental education and share environmental knowledge with them. The content of the seminar covered marine ecology, renewable energy, and food safety, allowing students to understand the current environmental situation in Hong Kong from multiple perspectives and encouraging them to contribute to protecting the natural environment of Hong Kong in different aspects. The seminar was well-received by students who actively learnt and sought to take part in more environmental actions.
