A Cup of Coffee that Has Much More Than a Mere Beverage
so330 - Inclusive Coffee Academy Training Programme
Instead of a simple embellishment in our daily life, a cup of mellow coffee can certainly be much more meaningful and impactful. so330, a social enterprise restaurant under New Life, launched the Inclusive Coffee Academy Training Programme, offering barista skills training to people with disabilities and the underprivileged.
Chun was among the first batch of participants being inspired by the programme. His life was changed by a small cup of coffee that helped him regain confidence and gave him the impetus to return to work.

New Life’s Chairperson Spoke at the Symposium for Social Welfare Sector on Learning, Promoting and Implementing the Spirit of President Xi Jinping's Important Speech
The Labour and Welfare Bureau, together with the Department of Social Affairs of the LOCPG in the HKSAR, the Institute of Social Service Development and an alliance formed by local social welfare organisations to fight the epidemic, held an online Symposium for Social Welfare Sector on Learning, Promoting and Implementing the Spirit of President Xi Jinping's Important Speech on 8 July. Miss Annie TAM Kam-lan, GBS, JP, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of New Life spoke to over 500 members from the social welfare sector as one of the invited guests at the Symposium.

84 local companies received recognitions at the 11th Consumer Caring Scheme organized by GS1 Hong Kong this year. New Life Support Enterprises Limited, a subsidiary of New Life, has been named one of the "Consumer Caring Companies”, recognizing the social enterprise’s remarkable performance over the "4C” principles and core values, including "Consumer Centric”, "Conforming to Commitment”, "Championing Quality” and "Caring for Staff”. Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, Chief Executive Officer of New Life, received the award on behalf of the company at the Award Presentation Ceremony on 28 June 2022.
dayday330 x Hong Kong Tramways - A Joint Effort to Promote 330 microbreak
As one of the supporting organizations of New Life’s dayday330 initiative, Hong Kong Tramways launched three special posters with warm reminders to passengers and mass public about the importance of taking a daily 330 micro break. Passengers are also encouraged to leverage the five senses to savour and enjoy the fascinating cityscape, and enhance their body (3), mind (3) and spirit (0) well-being during a pleasant journey.
"rwb330” Brand Products Available for Purchase at MTR e-Store
The MTR Corporation (MTR) and New Life have established a close and steadfast partnership in promoting the concept of mental health. As such, an array of "rwb330” brand products made by people in recovery of mental illness and people with disabilities from New Life’s sheltered workshops are now available for purchase at the MTR e-Store. By exploring more channels to connect the mass public with people in recovery of mental illness, New Life aspires to enhance public understanding of people in recovery and therefore foster greater social inclusion.

Applications Open for the Second-term Certificate in Mental Health Rehabilitation Practice Course
Demand for medical and social welfare services ramps up amid the epidemic. The first-ever Certificate in Mental Health Rehabilitation Practice course organized by New Life last year received overwhelming response. In the second-term course to be commenced later this year, participants who aspire to engage in the sector of mental health rehabilitation will be provided with professional foundation training. Upon the completion of the course, participants will receive the recognition of educational qualification equivalent to the accreditation standards at Qualifications Framework Level 3, which would be an edge when they seek career opportunities in the social and welfare sector.
The course covers the generic knowledge and techniques on mental health rehabilitation, including how to analyze, predict and take care of the rehabilitation needs of the service users, as well as to identify and handle critical mental incidents. Upon the completion of face-to-face courses, compulsory self-training and assessments, participants will receive a certificate from the Jockey Club New Life Institute of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Eligible applicants may submit claims to the Continuing Education Fund for reimbursement of up to 80% of the course fee.

New Life Interviewed by HKCSS Channel on V-Reach Project for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Funded by the Koo’s Giving Charitable Foundation, the Association launched the V-Reach Project at end of 2020, provides Virtual Reality (VR) based vocational training for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (PWA). The project aims to strengthen the PWA’s career planning, interpersonal skills and adaptation skills in workplace and enhance their employability.
New Life has been interviewed by the HKCSS Channel under the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to share the situation of students with special educational needs (SEN), the scope of the V-Reach Project as well as reminders to employers when interacting with SEN employees.

"Supporting persons with special needs” workshop for MTR Staff
Invited by MTR and HKCSS, New Life’s service team for Autism Spectrum Order conducted a workshop for MTR’s management level staff regarding the attributes of persons with special education needs, and the corresponding communication and coaching techniques. This would help them better understand the needs of the summer interns who possess special education needs.
Through video illustration and group discussion, the workshop enhances participants’ understanding of persons with special education needs, and gives them more confidence in coaching interns as well as assigning appropriate tasks per their abilities and needs.
New Life Farm Took Part in Local Organic Watermelon Festival
New Life Farm, a social enterprise operated by New Life, took part in the Local Organic Watermelon Festival organized by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, the Vegetable Marketing Organization and the Federation of Vegetable Marketing Co-operative Societies Ltd. Products from New Life Farm such as the organic watermelon "Black Angel” and other seasonal farm produce were featured at the festival to promote organic eating as well as the farm’s vocational rehabilitation services for people in recovery of mental illness.
Food Sharing Project at Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop
Voluntary work from Tianjin Port Development Holdings Limited
Tianjin Port Development Holdings Limited has been a huge supporter of New Life’s Food Sharing Project. On 17 June, Staff from the company visited the Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop to donate food supplies, assist in rice packing and distribute the food to beneficiaries of the ECF Food Sharing Project.
Sharing Warmness in the Community Together with Fairwood
The ECF Food Sharing Project at Kwai Shing partnered with Fairwood Fast Food Limited to host a community activity at the Fairwood restaurant in Kwai Shing East Shopping Centre on 27 June. 100 participants, mostly the beneficiaries of the Food Sharing Project and the service users of the vocational rehabilitation services at Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop, have been treated with mini games, complimentary meal boxes and gift packs. Elderly members and service users have been given dining discounts as well.
