"Care and Innovation for Holistic 330 Well-being” Dinner cum Long Service Awards

On 27 September, New Life hosted its 2023/24 Annual General Meeting and Long Service Awards Presentation Ceremony, alongside the "Care and Innovation for Holistic 330 Well-being" Gala Dinner at Miramar Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Dr. Libby LEE, JP, Acting Secretary for Health was the officiating guest for the Annual General Meeting and the Gala Dinner. Other distinguished guests also attended the event to show their support and to present long-term service awards to New Life’s colleagues, including: Mr. CHAN Tsz-ming, Director of the Department of Social Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Ms. Charmaine LEE, JP, Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Mickey LAI Kin-ming, JP, Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Mr. David LEUNG, JP, Deputy Secretary for Labour and Welfare (Welfare), Mr. Eddie LEE, JP Deputy Secretary for Health, Mr. Donald NG Man-kit, JP, Deputy Secretary for Housing / Deputy Director (Strategy), Dr. the Hon. KO Wing-man, GBS, JP, Non-Official Member of the Executive Council, Dr. Elsie LEUNG Oi-sie, GBM, JP, former Secretary for Justice, and Dr. Bunny CHAN, GBM, GBS, JP, member of the Hong Kong delegation to the National People’s Congress.

Professor Annie TAM Kam-lan, GBS, JP, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of New Life, reflected on the "New Life’s Journey: With Care & Innovation" over the past 59 years. She highlighted the quality of care and innovation deep rooted in the Association’s culture, and reviewed a series of new projects including the Tuen Mun Long Stay Care Home, and the "Health Mind Pilot Programme”.

Long Service Awards Presentation

Long Service Awards were presented to 57 staff members who have served the Association for over 10 years.
Annual General Meeting

On 27 September, New Life hosted its 2023/24 Annual General Meeting at Miramar Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. The meeting was chaired by Professor Fanny CHEUNG Mui-ching, SBS, OBE, JP, New Life’s President. Professor Annie TAM Kam-lan, GBS, JP, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of New Life presented the latest Chairperson’s report and financial highlights.

The meeting was concluded with the proposed lists of Office Bearers, Hon. Auditor, Hon. Legal Advisors as well as the Executive Committee for the year 2024/25 were approved during the meeting.
The National Security Law and Social Welfare Service Seminar

On 27 Sep, New Life hosted "The National Security Law and Social Welfare Service” Seminar at the Miramar Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui for around 100 staff members of the Association as well as two other welfare organisations.

The guest-of-honour Ms. WONG Yin-yee, JP, Deputy Director of Social Welfare highlighted the importance of safeguarding national security for social services.

Dr. the Hon. Rita FAN HSU Lai-tai (right), GBM, GBS, JP, Member of the Standing Committee of the 12th sessions of the National People’s Congress, and Chairman of Board of Management of the Endeavour Education Centre Limited, gave a speech themed "What does national security have to do with me?".

Another speaker at the event, Ms. Melissa Kaye PANG (left), BBS, MH, JP, Chairperson of the Agency for Volunteer Service and former President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, shared the relationship between national security laws and social welfare services from a professional legal perspective. She, together with Professor Annie TAM Kam-lan (right), GBS, JP, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of New Life, also addressed operation-related legal questions from the floor.
VReach Shortlisted In ’Good Stories of Social Welfare’

On 5 October, the Hong Kong Social Welfare Sector Heart to Heart Joint Action held the "Heart-to-Heart Social Welfare Gathering For The National Day Celebration”, where the Executive Committee and staff of the Association were invited to attend. About a thousand participants from over a hundred social welfare organisations gathered at the event for a dinner to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

New Life’s VReach project, a Virtual Reality-based vocational training for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, made it to the list of 75 shortlisted projects as one of the "most beneficial projects to people’s livelihoods”, under the "Good Stories of Social Welfare” Competition. The Association was awarded a commemorative certificate before the gala dinner that evening.
2024 Mental Health Awards Ceremony

On 10 October, coinciding with the World Mental Health Day, the Mental Health Foundation held the 2024 Mental Health Awards Ceremony, at the Hyatt Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, to recognise individuals and organisations from various sectors for their efforts in promoting mental health. New Life was honoured to receive three awards: the Persons in Recovery – Companionship Award, the Carers – Guardian Angel Award and the Outstanding Achievement and Contribution to Mental Health Award.

Dr. CHEUNG Hung-kin, Honorary Secretary of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Residential Services Subcommittee of New Life (left in the photo on the left), received the Outstanding Achievement and Contribution to Mental Health Award.
During the award ceremony, Dr. CHEUNG shared his insights from 52 years of working in mental health, expressing his high hope to continue witnessing the progress of mental health services in Hong Kong in the future.
Goodwell LEAF Charity Carnival Cum Green Fashion Catwalk Show

On 6 October, New Life was invited by Goodwell Property Management Ltd. to attend the Goodwell LEAF Charity Carnival Cum Green Fashion Catwalk Show, held at Ma On Shan Plaza. Ms. Chris WONG Kar-hing, Head of Professional Services, (Vocational Rehabilitation, Employment Services and Autism Spectrum Disorder Services) of New Life, served as one of the officiating guests and judges for the Environmental Creative Catwalk Show on the event day.

New Life’s community environmental project also set up a booth activity on the same day to introduce our "GREEN@COMMUNITY” environmental services to the public and conduct upcycling workshops to raise environmental awareness among citizens, spreading the message of sustainable development throughout the community. By participating in this event, New Life aimed at promoting environmental conservation and community inclusion.
LSCM Logistics Summit 2024

Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, CEO of New Life, attended the LSCM Logistics Summit 2024, where he engaged with government officials, industry experts, and business leaders to understand how to effectively integrate advanced technology into the development of the Greater Bay Area, as well as to enhance industry efficiency and competitiveness.
‘Love Market’ Carnival

New Life’s vocational rehabilitation service unit, the Jockey Club Sun Workshop, participated in the "Love Market” Carnival. At the event, the service unit showcased handmade crafts made by persons in recovery, highlighting their unique talents. The carnival also featured craft workshops led by these service users of New Life, promoting community inclusion and encouraging public awareness of mental health.

Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop: ECF Food Sharing Project

Cook Asia Limited and Meiyume participated in New Life’s volunteer activities, distributing food to project members, caring for those in need in the community, and also taking part in an environmental workshop to make coffee grounds aroma stones.

This year, ECF Food Sharing Project was honoured to be one of the beneficiaries of the Caring For Children Foundation’s "Mid-Autumn Gift Pack Campaign”. The Foundation donated 100 gift packs to project members.
