2024 Mental Health Month

The "2024 Mental Health Month" culminated in a recognition ceremony held in January. Under the theme "Linking Hearts, Bridging Communities" the campaign sought to inspire individuals to prioritise their mental and emotional well-being, while fostering a culture of care for others. As the operator of seven TWCs (The Wellness Centres) in Hong Kong, New Life is dedicated to advancing mental health services within the community, aligning with its mission of "Care and Innovation" to promote holistic well-being.
Running from October to December, the "2024 Mental Health Month" featured a series of well-being promotion activities branded under "Heart Tour Guides" across all 18 districts of Hong Kong. The campaign included a wide range of public events, such as open days, workshops, and carnivals, organised by 24 Integrated Community Centres for Mental Wellness and supported by five mobile vans for publicity service on mental wellness.

Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, CEO of New Life (front row, first from right), attended the ceremony. The event also showcased a "Healing My Heart" VR experience booth, inviting guests to embark on a journey of holistic healing and explore the diverse services offered by the Association.

He was joined by Ms. Cindy YIU Yan-yee, Head of Professional Service (Community Services), and Ms. WONG Lai-suen, the program team leader. Together, they engaged in meaningful discussions about women's mental health issues, sharing valuable insights and experiences with participants from the social welfare sector.

Trained volunteers from the Association also shared their personal growth stories and achievements throughout the project. They presented harmonious pastel paintings symbolising the diverse emotions experienced by women, aiming to encourage the public to recognise and address the unique mental health needs of women from multiple perspectives.

Eternal Love and Harmonious Community in Tin Chak Estate’ Cultural Festival

The Wellness Centre in Tin Shui Wai hosted a cultural festival centred on life and death education. Titled "Eternal Love and Harmonious Community in Tin Chak Estate", the event featured a variety of activities, including booth games, interactive experiences, performances by persons in recovery, youth volunteer sharing sessions, and exhibitions highlighting the importance of life and death education and mental health.

One particularly notable booth, "Drinks of life", invited the participants to craft beverages with four distinct flavours: sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy. This unique experience encouraged reflection on life’s diverse moments through the lens of the "Four Life Flavours."
Exploring Collaboration With CUHK

The Seed Technology and Education Centre from CUHK recently visited New Life Farm to explore potential collaboration opportunities. Supported by the Agricultural Sustainability Fund of the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department, the Centre aims to establish both physical and online seed banks to preserve valuable local seed resources for Hong Kong’s agricultural future.
Both parties expressed enthusiasm for working together to test new plant species, maintain high-quality seeds, and identify superior crops that are competitive in the local market, thereby promoting biodiversity and sustainable agriculture in Hong Kong.
Happy Kwai Tsui Christmas

Kwai Shing Rehabilitation Workshop was once again invited by the Hong Kong Housing Authority to co-host the community event "Happy Kwai Tsui Christmas".
New Life’s staff and service users collaborated with local residents to create eco-friendly crafts, including coffee sachets, aromatic stone coasters, and lemongrass mosquito repellent. This initiative strengthened connections between the community and persons in recovery, promoting inclusivity and social integration.
