Hong Kong Social Workers Explore The Motherland - 'Connecting Hearts' Chaozhou High-speed Rail Exchange Tour

On 31 May, staff members from New Life joined a delegation of over 300 Hong Kong social workers from 50 social welfare organisations, embarking on a three-day trip to Chaozhou for an exchange tour. Organised by "Connecting Hearts”, the tour aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of the country and the social welfare development in the Mainland China.

Supporting "Environment and Conservation Fund” Event


In early June, Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, CEO of New Life, attended the Environment and Conservation Fund 30th Anniversary "LET'S GROW FOR GREEN" Launching Ceremony, promoting and supporting community practices for carbon emission reduction.

 


Concert Ticket Donations


New Life was honoured to have received concert tickets for renowned singer Albert Au, sponsored by the Wofoo Foundation, enabling our service users and their families to enjoy classic hits. Miss Annie TAM Kam-lan, GBS, JP, Chairperson of New Life (second from right), was also invited to the event. The concert pamphlets featured messages of dayday330’s "5 ways to well-being” to advocate the importance of body, mind, and spirit well-being.

 


Visit To drinks330 And delight kitchen drinks330 and delight kitchen


Representatives from The Hong Kong Catering Industry Association Youth Committee visited the drinks330’s organic bean product workshop and the delight kitchen’s central kitchen. Through sharing and introductions, New Life hopes to develop multi-faceted cooperation with the industry and offer more employment opportunities for people in recovery.

 


Display Of Member Artwork At MTR Community Art Gallery

In June, a large Zentangle artwork created by New Life’s service users from The Wellness Centre (Tin Shui Wai) was displayed at the Community Art Gallery in the Tin Shui Wai MTR Station.

The painting depicts a rainbow-coloured sun rising slowly from the turbulent waves - symbolising one’s lifelong journey. Despite setbacks and emotional fluctuations in life, seeing the sunrise signifies a new beginning each day, in the hopes that fellow travellers and the public can start afresh facing the dawn.


 


Vocational Rehabilitation Services Units In A Charity Sale


New Life’s Vocational Rehabilitation Services units: Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop, Jockey Club Sun Workshop, New Life Building Sheltered Workshop, and Shek Pai Wan Integrated Work Centre, were invited by Morgan Stanley to participate in a Charity Sale in its office at the International Commerce Centre, promoting New Life’s organic and healthy products, handicrafts, and household cleaning products.

 


so330 Joins Jockey Club Elderly Cheer Hub Project


New Life’s so330 team participated in the Jockey Club Elderly Cheer Hub project, bringing elderly volunteers from The Hong Kong Society for the Aged to the On Sum Elderly Care Centre for a beverage tasting event. With social games and a coffee brewing experience, the elderly were able to sample rose coffee and Rooibos tea, enhancing their connection with society and adding joy to their lives.

Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop: ECF Food Sharing Project

UPS and Guardforce Property Management volunteer teams participated in New Life’s activities in May. They assisted in distributing food to the ECF project members and also supported the project with their generous donations.


 


Food Collection Boxes

Food collection boxes were introduced to the ECF Project this year. These boxes have been placed in the offices of our corporate partners to collect excess but unexpired packaged food donated by their employees for our project members.

In the first phase, we were grateful to receive support from ASMPT and Reitar Logtech Group, for their food donations.

330 Mooncakes


With Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, New Life is delighted to announce its collaboration with the reputable Hong Kong pastry brand "Patisserie La Lune” to launch the 330 Mooncakes. The packaging features artwork by rehabilitated artist Ms. CHAN Ching-man, themed on "Taste of Hong Kong”. The mooncakes are imprinted with "330,” symbolising the body (3), mind (3), and spirit (0) well-being.

The 330 Mooncakes are available in two flavours: lava custard and lava matcha, made by the lava egg yolk from "Patisserie La Lune" and matcha from Japan. The mooncakes features a crispy crust, a creamy filling, and a moderate level of sweetness, offering an unforgettable taste. All mooncakes are locally made and contain no preservatives.

The Fourth Practical Mental Health Recovery Certificate Returns


 

The fourth Practical Mental Health Recovery Certificate course is now open for enrollment. This unique and professional course covers general knowledge and skills in mental health rehabilitation

- understanding and responding to the needs of the service recipients

- the ability to execute practical tasks

- collaborate with a team

Target:individuals who looking to advance their skills and career development in the mental rehabilitation sector.

The course is included in the list of reimbursable courses for CEF purposes. Eligible students can receive reimbursement of up to 80% of the course fee.
