"330 micro-break” Promotion On Outdoor Display in Various Busy Districts

From May to June, with the generous support from Henderson Land Development Co., Ltd., Sogo (Hong Kong) Department Store Co., Ltd., and Cyberport, dayday330 was offered free promotional space on the outdoor display of buildings to promote the importance of "330 micro-break" and encourage everyone to take a "330 micro-break" amidst busy routine in this bustling city, taking care of their holistic wellbeing. We are grateful for the great support from the aforementioned organisations in promoting mental and physical health.

Rehabilitation International Centennial Celebration in Beijing

New Life’s delegation attended the Rehabilitation International Centennial Celebration, hosted by Rehabilitation International and the China Disabled Persons' Federation in Beijing from 19 to 23 May. Representatives included Mr. Thomas CHU Sai-ming, Chief Executive Officer of New Life, Ms. Chris WONG Kar-hing, Head of Professional Services, (Vocational Rehabilitation, Employment Services and Autism Spectrum Disorder Services), Ms. Cindy YIU Yan-yee, Head of Professional Service (Community Services) and Mr. HO Kai Ming, Acting Social Work Supervisor (Residential Services). 

Themed "Towards the Next Century: Promote Equal Participation and Well-rounded Development of Persons with Disabilities”, the event focused on various key areas regarding persons with disabilities, including rehabilitation, education, employment and community inclusion. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Rehabilitation International Centennial Celebration, stating that China will further improve the social security system and care services system for persons with disabilities in the process of Chinese modernisation, and promote the comprehensive development of the cause of persons with disabilities.

Fuhong Society of Macau’s Fly High Social Service New Innovation Conference

New Life’s VReach project team was invited to participate in Macau Fu Hong Society's 20th anniversary event — Fly High Social Service New Innovation Conference to share the service experience in using virtual reality technology in vocational training for people with autism. The event also gathered scholars and experts from Beijing and Greater Bay Area cities to exchange thoughts and insights on various social issues.

The Conference was held in a hybrid format with 300 attendees from Macau SAR government departments and social service institutions, the tertiary education sector and businesses.

so330 Mother's Day Bazaar: A Warm Family Moment 

On the eve of Mother's Day, May 13, New Life’s social enterprise so330 held a 330 Mother's Day bazaar with booths set up by Azure Canvas, Chuk Yuen Integrated Work Centre, newlife.330 and bliss_ony. Items offered included organic cotton clothes, knitted flowers made by people in recovery (PIR), customisable aromatherapy candles with hidden messages, and UV accessories made with mindfulness techniques. The event allowed participants to observe their body, mind, and spirit well-being while paying tribute to their mothers.

Career Guidance Workshop for Autistic Youth with HKEX Foundation

On 12 May, iSPA and HKEX Foundation co-organised a "Career Upgrade" workshop, offering teenagers with Autism a series of career guidance, including workplace experience sharing, interview and resume consultation, as well as mock interview training to enhance their job-seeking capabilities.

During the workshop, volunteers from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange shared their personal experiences, conducted one-on-one mock interviews for participants and shared unique experiences with them. Participants gained valuable insights and advice from the workshop and it propels them to search for their future career.

HACTL Visit at Tin King Sheltered Workshop

On 13 April, a group of staff from HACTL, a long-term partner of New Life, was invited to visit the Tin King Sheltered Workshop. The visitors learnt about New Life’s vocational rehabilitation services and the content of the services the Workshop provides, including the vocational training that helps service users enhance social and work skills. HACTL’s representatives also discussed with the Workshop regarding potential collaborations on woodworking products created by Workshop’s service users during their woodworking training.

inno330 Collaborates with CUHK InnoPort to Promote Wellbeing During Entrepreneurship Support Week

From 17 to 21 April at CUHK’s Entrepreneurship Support Week, New Life’s wellbeing instructors joined its social enterprise inno330 and students from CUHK to create Zentangle bookmarks and Herbarium Pen, and play table top games. Participants also conducted emotional tests to help them understand more about their emotional condition and enhance their mental and physical health in five ways, helping them establish effective psychological resources.

Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop: ECF Food Sharing Project

Collaboration with Shing Yan Christian Social Service Centre
On 22 April, Kwai Shing Sheltered Workshop’s ECF Food Sharing Project and Shing Yan Christian Social Service Centre co-organised a sharing session for students from Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School and members from the Work Extension Programme on Hong Kong’s food waste issue. The session introduced various eco-friendly living tips and ways to reduce food waste, and encouraged participants to take a step towards environmental protection by cherishing food and reducing waste, contributing to environmental protection.
