Cognitive behavioral approach to hoarding problems in people in recovery of mental illness: A pilot study in Hong Kong

New Life developed a therapeutic group protocol called 囤得有理 in 2014, which is targeted at persons in recovery with hoarding behavior. There were significant reduction in difficulty in discarding and presence of clutter and acquisition. There was also improvement in the extent of cluster in the participants’ home.

Research about Horticultural Therapy

New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association conducted the study with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2016. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the process and outcomes of a standardized horticultural program using a mixed methodology.

Research about a stigma reduction programme, “In our own stories”, for persons in recovery

The purpose of the project was designed to promote a positive attitude towards persons in recovery of mental illness (PIR) among secondary school students using a stigma reduction programme that combines the methodology of oral history and theatre-in-education.

A one-year longitudinal qualitative study of peer support services in a non-Western context: The perspectives of peer support workers, service users, and co-workers

This study explored the changing views of key stakeholders (peer support workers, their co-workers, and service users) about peer support services in a non-Western community, using a longitudinal qualitative approach.

Research about the elements of Recovery Facilitating System (Traditional Chinese Only)

In order to increase our understanding on recovery elements and their application, the Association has collaborated with the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Opinions were collected from more than a hundred people-in-recovery (PIRs) and their caregivers through questionnaires.
