An Innovative Pilot Project

Dedicated to delivering high quality rehabilitation services, the Association initiated an innovative rehabilitation programme by running a vegetable stall in Tuen Mun in 1994 as our first simulated business. The result was extremely encouraging with positive feedback from the community while understanding and acceptance towards people with mental illness was enhanced. On the other hand, job training in an actual business environment also helped people with mental illness create and develop good working habits and improve their self-confidence.

Since simulated business is found to be greatly beneficial to our service users, the Association endeavored to further expand the practice in the form of social enterprise. The second vegetable stall and a fruit stall were thus set up in Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre in 1997 to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the residents.
