 A Brief Introduction to the Service

Enhance the employability of people with mental illness through proactive training, vocational counseling and referrals
 
Provide wages subsidy to employers, so as to encourage them to offer job vacancies for people with mental illness to try out their work abilities and eventually employing them
 

In order to boost employment opportunities of people with disabilities who are with higher functioning abilities, the Association has set up another project, namely, “On-the-Job Training Programme for People with Disabilities” funded by the Social Welfare Department since 2001.

  People with mental illness, aged 15 or above, who need vocational training, job attachment and support to take up open employment
  Applicants or referrers may approach us directly for intake assessment
  Employers who would like to offer job may contact us and we will identify the most suitable candidates for the employers
  Provide job-related training and counseling
  Arrange job attachment for service users, whom upon completion of the attachment assistance would be provided to help them find job or job trial in the open market
  Provide no less than 6 months of post-placement service to help service users to settle in employment
  Service users who are found unsuitable or unwilling to receive the service, or who are capable of staying in the job independently, social worker will establish an exit plan for them
  People with mental illness, aged 15 or above
  Capable of basic self-care
  Stable physical and mental conditions, absence of severe harrassing behaviours
  Assessment will be performed before formal intake, people with mental illness have to show motivation and the ability to take up open employment
  No propensity for violent or anti-social behavior, has no infectious disease, persistent alcohol or drug abuse, or gambling addiction
