Mr. Cheung Tat-ming, Dr. Tsang Fan-kwong and Mr. Vivek Mahbubani return for a Third round of Mental Health Talk Show Performance!

Stand-Up for Mental Health Talk Show

Famous stand-up comedian Mr. Cheung Tat-ming, veteran psychiatrist Dr. Tsang Fan-kwong and rising Indian comic star Mr. Vivek Mahbubani will return for a third round of mental health talk show performance, this time revolving around the theme of stigma and prejudice against people with mental illness in particular! The show will be played at Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 29 & 30 January 2010 (Friday & Saturday).

The talk show, entitled “Stand-up for Mental Health Talk Show Level Up!” owing to the enhanced contents, is hosted and sponsored once again by New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and the Labour and Welfare Bureau respectively. Having had two successful runs in January and May 2009, this talk show is designed to deliver an all-round 360 degree thinking of stigma on mental illness and issues about body and mind health through a host of sparkling new elements, including: humorous gags in relation to “stigma” hand-picked by Cheung Tat-ming, tall stories and funny encouters with people with mental illness collected by Dr. Tsang Fan-kwong from his years of experience as a psychiatrist, Vivek’s real life tales of discrimination, and a bunch of new interactive games between the audience and guests during the “Cross-over” section. The Association hoped that the humorous approach would help put the subject of mental health stigma into perspective, and encourage Hong Kong people to build a harmorious and inclusive society with a positive mindset and an open attitude.

To carry the message of “anti-stigma” further, a theme song – an adapation of one of Grasshoppers’ greatest hits titled “Falling Out of Love” with brand new lyrics zeroing in the subject – will be produced and performed during the Talk Show. Another innovative attempt per se, the theme song will certainly give the performance some personality! To carry the message of “anti-stigma” further, a theme song – an adapation of one of Grasshoppers’ greatest hits titled “Falling Out of Love” with brand new lyrics zeroing in the subject – will be produced and performed during the Talk Show.
